For nearly 100 years, Corteva Agriscience has worked side-by-side with farmers around the world to provide seed products and management recommendations to enable farmers to be more sustainable and productive. Increasing yield potential, protecting against diseases, pests and weeds, and developing new food, feed and fuel solutions will benefit farmers, consumers and our planet.
Farmers face escalating and ever-changing challenges as they produce the crops that feed, fuel and clothe the world. Thousands strong, our team of researchers, agronomists, and more are focused on delivering the innovative seed solutions that help farmers tackle their biggest challenges.
Since first offering our seed products in 1926, we have used the latest techniques to develop and bring new innovations to farmers that help them more efficiently grow the food we eat. These techniques include breeding, genetic modification, and in the future, gene editing.
All the seeds in our portfolio — corn, soybean, canola, cotton, sunflower and others — are designed to meet or exceed applicable safety standards set by government regulatory bodies all over the world.
For example, our seed products developed using genetic modification technologies undergo on average more than 75 different studies to demonstrate each new product is as safe to grow, as safe to eat and as safe for the environment as conventional seed products. Since the first genetically modified seeds became available in the 1990’s, they have been reviewed and approved by more than 90 regulatory bodies around the world, for example the U.S. Department of Agriculture, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the European Food Safety Authority and Health Canada.
These products have been widely adopted by farmers because they increase the amount of food farmers are able to grow. In fact, the World Health Organization has said that no effects on human health have been recorded as a result of the consumption of genetically modified foods in the countries in which they have been approved.
