Etlas™ is a new bioenergy company formed in 2025 as a 50:50 joint venture between Corteva Inc. and bp. Etlas connects farming with sustainable energy production by converting cover crops — such as canola, mustard, and sunflower — into feedstock for the production of SAF and renewable diesel (RD). Etlas leverages Corteva’s century-long expertise in seed technology and bp’s leadership in refining and marketing fuels for the commercial transportation market.
Initial supply is scheduled to begin in 2027, serving both co-processing at refineries and dedicated biofuels plants in the Americas and Europe.
Etlas aims to produce one million metric tonnes of feedstock per year by the mid-2030s, which could produce over 800 thousand tonnes of biofuel. The feedstock will be sourced from crops grown on existing farmland, often between main food cropping seasons, improving soil health and providing farmers with new revenue streams — without increasing land use.
“Etlas brings together global leaders in agriculture innovation and energy production to harness growing demand for SAF and renewable diesel by leveraging technological expertise and trusted relationships with farmers around the world to help scale production and boost supply — all while offering farmers new revenue streams.”
